Even without a basic knowledge of Spanish, you can volunteer at Open Windows by building houses or delivering and setting up ecostoves. Professional masons direct the work of building the houses, which usually takes one to two weeks for a one- or two-room house with a bathroom. Ecostoves are set up in a couple of hours and, depending on the size of the group, dozens of stoves may be delivered in a single week. Some groups, like high school Spanish classes, divide their time between painting houses in the morning and teaching the children in the afternoon.
Families, high school groups, business groups and church groups are all welcome. We have a variety of plans to fit your budget (see our “Volunteer Costs” page).
